Free Mediation Service
Amanda Carrigan is a solicitor with over 30 years of experience and over 11 years of mediation experience and has well-honed skills to assist parties to reach an agreement where there is a conflict.
Mediation is an alternative form for resolving disputes between two or more people without hiring solicitors or going through the Courts. It brings a better result to the adversarial nature of legal action because people are in control of what happens and often allows relationships to continue with a common understanding of the way forward.
Mediation provides an opportunity for each person to have their say in a confidential respectful setting and for people to find their own solution to a conflict through engaging in the process which is explained at the commencement of the Mediation. The process rests on the separation of the people from the problem and allows the conflict to be addressed in detail and parties to reach their own resolution.
Prior to commencing a Mediation Amanda will speak to each party in confidence to get a picture of the problem from their position a few days prior to scheduling the Mediation.
The Mediation will start with an introduction by the Mediator as to how the process will proceed. Each of the parties then make a brief statement about the issues which is summarised by the Mediator. From here agreement is sought as to the order in which issues will be discussed and an agenda is set. The parties are then encouraged to explore the issues and discuss other aspects that may arise. Following this parties are encouraged to put forward all options for resolution they can think of without making any judgements about these until they are fully evaluated together.
